This book provides an overview of the Prestel service in 1980. Prestel was the brand name for the UK Post Office's Viewdata technology. This technology was a forerunner to the internet, as it allowed users to look up information on a television set connected to a specialist terminal.
This glossy book is presented in a specialist sleeve and was clearly intended partly as a promotional document for the service. A brief summary on the first pages describes the book:
'Prestel 1980 - The aims, the product, the market, the marketing strategy, and the roles that will be played in 1980 byeach of the parties on whom the success of Prestel depends.'
